Messi and Xavi should beat Ronaldo for UEFA's Best European Footballer Award

Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez have been nominated, together with Miss Cristina Ronalda, for the Best European Footballer award from UEFA.
The winner will be announced on 25th August during the Champions League 2011/12 draw to be held in Montecarlo.

I have no preferences as to who I want to win out of the 2 blaugrana players - as long as Ronaldo doesn't get it, I'd be happy!!!

The following footballers finished in positions 4 to 10:

4 Andrés Iniesta (ESP) - FC Barcelona (33 points)

5 Falcao (COL) - FC Porto (17)

6 Wayne Rooney (ENG) - Manchester United FC (15)

7 Nemanja Vidic (SRB) - Manchester United FC (5)

8 Zlatan Ibrahimovic (SWE) - AC Milan (4)

9 Gerard Piqué (ESP) - FC Barcelona (4)

10 Manuel Neuer (GER) - FC Schalke 04 (3)

WHO SHOULD WIN THIS AWARD AND WHY?

DID CRISTINA DO ENOUGH THIS YEAR TO BEAT INIESTA TO THE TOP 3?

Cristiano Ronaldo posted very impressive scoring numbers, no doubt, (although he padded those numbers quite a bit late in the season against several weak opponents in unimportant games.)

Messi on the other hand, continued to improve (!) not only by scoring very IMPORTANT goals but by displaying a season-long exhibition of complete football skills, with many valuable assists to go along with his scoring prowess.

If there is justice and sense amongst the voters Messi should win, no contest.
