FC Barcelona beat Girona to reach the Copa Catalunya 2-1 in the semifinals last night with another promising performance by Gerard Deulofeu.
The 17 year-old Catalan winger was a breath of fresh air when he jumped on the pitch during the second half. Deulofeu just seems electric whenever he has space and, when in control, always checks where his teammates are before finishing the play himself if there's no better options.
Gerard Deulofeu has been a Barça player since he was just 9 years old but it wasn't until last year, under coach Oscar Garcia, that his talents seemed to explode while leading his Juvenil A team to winning the treble (Liga, Copa del Rey and Copa de Campeones) in what was the best season of any FC Barcelona youth team EVER.
Not happy with that, Deulofeu then won the European Under-19s Championship and debuted with Pep Guardiola's first Barça team during the Barça USA Tour 2011, even assisting Keita for his goal against Club America.
Many Cule fans are already beginning to compare him to Leo Messi because of his goalscoring and dribbling skills, the fact he never gives up and how he keeps fighting until until the final whistle: Well, that won't help him. Gerard needs to be his own person, strengthen mentally and improve while learning from the best.
GERARD DEULOFEU, THE NEXT BARçA STAR? WELL, WE CAN'T TELL YET: LET THE KID PROGRESS AND WE'LL DEFINITELY TALK ABOUT HIM IN A FEW YEARS TIME!!!!!
