Despite having tried extremely hard for hours, I still can’t understand why the National Teams need to play a friendly on the 10th August. How stupid!!!
The clearest example of how FIFA prefers money to respecting their players is Dani Alves. The Brazilian gave up most of his summer to play the Copa America with La Canarinha, then went on holiday and didn’t return to Barcelona… He flew straight to Stuttgart for the Germany-BRAZIL friendly. Shambles!!!
It is rumoured Mr Greedy Blatter is considering moving these August friendlies to September from next season but, to be honest, that’s only postponing the root problem: If CLUBS pay the players’ wages, they should have a bigger say on when these pointless friendlies are scheduled, or have the power to ban them altogether. Simple.
