OFFICIAL: Barça releases Gabi Milito

FC Barcelona has offloaded Argentinian international defender Gabi Milito, who will most likely sign for Independiente in the next few hours.

- To be honest, I'm not surprised at all. Letting Gabi Milito leave the Camp Nou for free was the ONLY option for Guardiola to save the Argentinian's 4MILLeu per season wage as no major club was ever truly interested in paying a transfer for him.

Despite undoubtedly being a great defender, Gabi Milito will be remembered as someone who cost our club 18.5MILLeu back in 2007 and has only played 48 La Liga matches since, spending more time in the sidelines than helping the team on the pitch.

Regardless of his lack of fortune with regards to injuries though, Gabi Milito was always supportive of the team and has helped make Barça's dressing room stronger. For that, I admire him.

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK, GABI MILITO!!!!!!!

Adios Gabi, buena suerte! :) Those Culés who say you did nothing have a very short memory and extremely bad manners. You will be missed, especially by Leo Messi and by the loyal fans.

Unfortunately Milito's career at Barca was badly disrupted by a severe knee injury. However, he always gave his very best when he did play. Even last year, when he was a shadow of what he once was, he still played several important games for Barca when the need arose. Buen suerte y muchos gracias.
