Barça was simply too slow against Granada >> Read My Mind

Cesc Fabregas: ‘The movement of the ball was too slow, we didn’t change the direction of play enough, we had too many players down the right, and we didn’t have as much ball possession as usual, but we did control the whole match. Our defensive form is good too’

Xavi: ‘Granada was a complicated game and we could not finish it off in the second half. Granada never had a shot on goal, but then we never scored a second goal. It was a good game, but we missed getting the goal which would have offered us more tranquillity on the pitch. In general we did well, but there are still areas that we can improve’

Guardiola: ‘The truth is that we were slower than we normally are in moving the ball around, which is our strong point, but we did try to take control, which is something that happens when you are playing so many games’

– While I’m obviously not happy about the whole team’s performance, I’m pleased to hear our players and coach are as concerned as we are, singing from the same song sheet.

Words such as ‘improve’ or ‘too slow’ are exactly the ones I was screaming at my TV set yesterday. It’s reassuring to see how we all seem to agree and, based on recent history, I have every faith on Guardiola and his men to go back to the form Barça are known for.
