Barça didn’t deserve a win at Bilbao >> Read My Mind

Xavi: ‘Athletic Bilbao put in a great performance but if anybody deserved to win it – FC Barcelona did. On a footballing level, it was the best game of the season. Both teams went for the win and the pace didn’t drop. I really enjoyed the time I was on the pitch, it’s just a pity we didn’t win’

Xavi: ‘Teams are always prepared to play us like that – it just takes a capable and brave coach’

Xavi: ‘We have a lot of games and to play in all of them would wear us out’

Xavi: ‘Barça are three behind Madrid, but we aren’t worried about that. We are doing things well. It’s three points and there is still a long way to go in the league. We just have to continue playing at the same high technical and physical level’

Xavi: ‘The 4 draws so far this season is just a coincidence. Every game is different. It gets harder every year. Although people say that this is a league of two teams, it’s not easy to win, particularly away from home’

Xavi: ‘Rotations are logical and necessary. We have a lot of games and to play in all of them would wear us out. We have a lot of top quality players and we don’t notice it when we are without one or another’

– I disagree with Xavi: The draw at Bilbao was a fair result. When 2 teams play football with such spirit and leave their souls on the pitch, sharing points seems the fairest outcome.

Yes, I am a FC Barcelona supporter, have been since the second I was born, but that doesn’t blind me. Bielsa’s Athletic put on a great performance in front of their home crowd and took advantage of the torrential rain. Those unfortunate puddles that formed around the pitch obviously handicapped Barça’s quick passing style.

And one last point. When things get tough, that’s the time to stick together. Nobody likes being behind Real Madrid in La Liga but, as Xavi says, there are many more games to be played before July. Blaming our own players doesn’t help. Having said that, it’s obvious Mascherano or Pique could have been more fortunate yesterday but, at the end of the day, football is a team effort. Individual mistakes can unbalance a match but not a whole league. Let’s give Guardiola and his team time, they deserve it.

PROUD TO BE BLAUGRANA!!!!!
