– It’s is clear Messi is playing a lot of matches, both for Barça and Argentina. My position on the matter is clear: Titles are won by teams who stay fit and peak around May time. We definitely need a fit Leo Messi then.
Yes, La Liga is an endurance competition throughout the year which rewards the most regular team but I do feel, given the depth of the FC Barcelona squad, Messi should be allowed some rest.
The bottom line is: Messi doesn’t want the rest, he enjoys football so much that sitting on the bench and watch others score is not an option. So who needs to decide? Well, Pep and his doctors. Not me, the fans or even Messi himself.
Definitely a tough dilemma for Guardiola but, as usual, we need to trust our coach makes the right choice.
