Messi is where he is thanks to Guardiola and La Masia >> Read My Mind

Leo Messi has now scored 13 hat-tricks (14 if you consider the 4 goal poker against Arsenal)

Leo Messi has now scored 13 hat-tricks (14 if you consider the 4 goal poker against Arsenal)

La Pulga now has 202 goals for Barça, 160 since Guardiola became coach, and is now within reach of César’s all-time FC Barcelona record (235 goals)

Messi has now scored 5 goals in 4 games in the Champions League, scored 6 goals in 4 days, two hat-tricks in a row and if we don’t take into account the 4 goals he scored against Arsenal in the 2009/10 Champions League quarter final, the one against Viktoria Plzen was Messi’s first hat-trick in European competition.

– I am delighted to see how Messi’s improvement rate seems to have no limits. He was always looking special as a youngster, making an impact alongside Ronaldinho and Eto’o since he arrived to the first team from La Masia.

Having said that though, Guardiola’s decision to play him as a false striker is making the whole difference. Leo has that extra spark that most footballers desire but will never get.
