No Villa? Don’t worry, Barça has everything under control >> Read My Mind

Guardiola: ‘David Villa is a very popular person, and a sensitive lad. The players are upset. These losses leave you sick, unhappy, empty’

Guardiola: ‘David Villa is a very popular person, and a sensitive lad. The players are upset. These losses leave you sick, unhappy, empty’

Guardiola: ‘My FC Barcelona players are upset. Villa has been working so hard and so long, but now will be without him for a very long time. He will be clearly missed, first as a colleague and also as a player. The players hope that his operation goes as smoothly as possible, we will be waiting to welcome him back with open arms’

Guardiola: ‘Everybody needs to put themselves in his shoes and knows how much he’s going to suffer. Now he’s going to fly back to Barcelona with a doctor and someone else, just when the team is fighting to be the best in the world. I’m so sorry, and we have to cheer him up. I want him to know that we’re waiting for him’

– Disastrous news for Guardiola and the Barça family. It’s always sad to see any of our players getting injured, but El Guaje is one of those key players who always brings that extra charisma to the team. Tragic!!!

It annoys me that Villa’s now not going to have the chance to turn his season around – Let’s not forget he hadn’t made the best start, probably as a result of minor injury problems which ended up leading to getting a fractured tibia. And there’s also the frustrated Madrid media making up rumours about him!!!

Does Barça need a striker to replace Villa? Well, NO. Absolutely NOT. Signing anybody this winter would send a very negative message to both the current squad and fans. Players such as Pedro, Cuenca or Alexis have shown enough qualities to fill in for El Guaje. We have many young prospects at Barça B eager to get a chance to make headlines (Deulofeu springs to mind straight away!)

DAVID VILLA: GET BETTER SOON, CULES WILL MISS YOU, YOUR TEAMMATES WILL COVER FOR YOU UNTIL YOU RECOVER!!!!!
