Alexis Sanchez: 'At Barcelona I am going step-by-step'

Alexis Sanchez: 'At Barcelona I am going step-by-step'

Alexis Sanchez: 'I know that I haven't done anything yet but I am happy for the career that I have had until this moment, most of all the performance I had at Udinese, when I was chosen as one of the best players in Italy'

Alexis Sanchez: 'On the other hand I find it important to keep on growing, and that is happening at Barcelona, where I learn very much from Lionel Messi, the best player in the world'

Alexis Sanchez: 'This team wants to keep on winning things; I want to be at Barcelona for a long time. I want to follow the way Messi has gone. That means to win everything'

- It was clear from his debut at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid that Alexis was a great addition to the Pep Team. His courage, work-rate and physical strength were exactly what Barça's attack needed. With 5 goals in 13 appearances, I'm sure the best is yet to come: I have seen glimpses of genius!!!

Guardiola was forced into a constant repeat of MVP (Messi-Villa-Pedro) during most of the 2010/11 season due to the weakness of our bench - Bojan, Jeffren, Afellay and, very rarely, Nolito.

As I often say, numbers don't lie:

- Bojan is a solid reserve at Roma, having scored 3 goals in 15 matches. Not even Luis Enrique has been able to find that supposed 'magic trick' that motivates Mr Krkic. Not only that, he's also bad-mouthed Guardiola in front of the world's media. Sad to see how one of La Masia's most promising youngsters in years has ended up warming an Italian bench.

- Jeffren has only played 2 matches, scoring 1 goal, at Sporting Clube de Portugal. As always, injury will have him sidelined for most of the season. Get better soon, let's see what you've got!!

- Afellay hasn't played a minute for Barça yet following an unfortunate pre-season injury. Let's hope he comes back soon!

- Nolito refused to stay at Barça, choosing to continue his career elsewhere. To be fair, Guardiola didn't really give him many chances with the first team last season. Since he joined Benfica, he's scored 10 goals in 25 appearances. Good for you!
