Then Messi appeared. As usual. I never really saw Pele or Maradona play live but, to be honest, I don’t really need to: La Pulga is the BEST footballer the world has ever seen. Quick, gifted, determined, hard-working, competitive, humble. A gentle assassin. What a genius!!!
When Barça have possession, goals always come. Messi achieved a hat-trick, Alexis added the other. A special mention goes to El Niño Maravilla who, since he regained his fitness, has been a proper nightmare to rival defenses. He fights, he steals, he finds spaces. Always generous with his individual effort. A great addition to the Pep Team. What an improvement from poor Mr Krkic last season.
Barça went into this match to make a clear statement: We are still alive in La Liga, regardless of the current point difference to Real Madrid. Yes, we may have dropped 11 points away from home so far, but Christmas is now over: No more away presents!!!!!
