FC Barcelona beat Valencia at the Camp Nou tonight, 2-0. Cesc and Xavi scored for the Blaugranas. We are in the Copa Del Rey final!!!
Match Report:
Guardiola’s Barça have qualified for yet another Copa Del Rey final after defeating Valencia 2-0 in the semis.
The match started well for Los Ches, who threatened Pinto in a couple of occasions in the early minuted of the first half.
Around the 15th minute, Xavi, Cesc and Thiago starting controlling the ball much more, taking more control of the game and creating some clear chances when they managed to step up a gear – Valencia defended pretty well tonight, never gave up.
Eventually, Cesc converted one of those goalscoring opportunities, his 15th goal of the season. The Fab4 is clearly trying to fill in the gap in Villa’s and Pedro’s stats…
The second half continued like the first, with Los Blaugranas dominating but failing to materialise their chances. Despite his titanic effort, Messi was denied several times but a very good Alves (not ours, but Valencia’s keeper!!)
After 82 minutes, Xavi’s cracking goal made justice, showing a final result which was a closer reflection of FCB’s dominance tonight.
I’d like to point out the fact that, after some not-so-great performances recently, I’m fairly pleased with the match tonight: Much more lively, controlled and, at times, brilliant. Way to go!!!
All in all, a good performance that allows the Pep Team into another final, the 12th since Guardiola took over in 2008. Despite the Madrid-based media trying to ‘kill’ our chances, this team only knows one way to play football: WINNING!!!!!!
