Javier Mascherano Signs Until 2016, Dani Alves On Fire, Andres Iniesta Eager To Shine : My View On Today’s FCB News here:

Javier Mascherano has officially extended FC Barcelona contract through the 2016 season. The Argentine’s buyout clause will be set at 100 million euros. After two seasons with the Blaugranas, Mascherano has won the respect and admiration from both his teammates and the Camp Nou faithful with an impeccable trajectory that’s taken him from his defensive midfielder role to the center of the defence. The Argentine, with 97 games under his belt, is just shy of completing 100 matches with the first team – Tremendous news! Javier Mascherano has silenced all of those doubters who were wondering whether he was worth the €24 million Barcelona paid for him in the summer of 2010. A true professional, Muscle Masche has excelled since Pep Guardiola started using him as a center-back, becoming an indispensable player. The future of Barcelona is in safe hands!

Dani Alves guaranteed that he is going into the new season: “with the same ambition and desire that he had when he joined the Club”, stressing that there is no greater motivation than: “playing in the best team in the world”, as well as confirming that the new coach had given him a vote of confidence: “Tito Vilanova has said he has confidence in me and I want to repay that” – Positive attitude from a key Barcelona player. At 29 years of age, Dani Alves is about to start his 5th season at the Camp Nou, making him one of the most experienced players in our Blaugrana dressing room. His performance against Hamburg in pre-season earlier this weeks shows he’s still up for the challenge. I honestly hope Dani Alves remains focused this year, he is unstoppable when in top form!

Andres Iniesta feels the Barcelona objectives for 2012/13 are the same as ever. “We want to do things well and be challenging for titles at the end of the season. We are as eager as ever, if not more. The way we do things won’t change much. Everybody and every manager has their methods and ways, but I expect they’ll be similar. However, it won’t only be Tito’s responsibility, it is everybody’s. Now, more than ever, the players want to extend this successful period and keep on winning titles” – Hearing our more senior players supporting our new coach Tito Vilanova is definitely reassuring. A club where fans, board of directors, coaches and players all pull together has every chance to achieve further success. It won’t be an easy journey, but we definitely have a great basis to build on. Looking forward to the new season!
