Seydou Keita Leaves Barcelona, Van Persie - David Villa Swap, Jordi Alba On Olympics >> Read My Mind On FCB News

Seydou Keita Leaves Barcelona, Van Persie - David Villa Swap, Jordi Alba On Olympics : Read My Mind About Today's FCB News here:

Seydou Keita will leave the club in the summer, Barcelona announced on their official website. The Mali international still had two years left on his contract with the Blaugrana, but a clause in the deal says that he can leave Camp Nou after failing to feature in at least 50 per cent of the club's official matches last season - I really can not even begin to express how much Seydou Keita has meant for Barcelona over the last few seasons. Always a professional, always ready to help when needed. With 188 appearances and 22 goals in just 4 seasons, he will be missed. There goes a true Blaugrana hero!

Barcelona are reportedly preparing to offload David Villa to fund a bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie. Van Persie is out of contract at the end of next season - What a load of rubbish. Tito Vilanova has clearly explained that he isn't interested in signing any new strikers as he is happy with our current attackers. Selling Villa after the injury he's just gone through without giving him a chance to prove whether he's up to the job again is simply not in the cards. Only rumours!

Jordi Alba looks set to take his place in the Spain squad for the Olympic Games despite Barcelona's protestations to his call-up - While I'm not happy about Jordi Alba joining the Spanish Olympic squad, I doubt the Barcelona board will force him to stay for our preseason training. If he doesn't travel to London, that would be Alba's decision, not the club's.

  1. Muchas gracias a Seydou Keita por todo y buen suerte en futuro. Keita has served well but it is probably time for him to move on.
Selling Villa so as to buy RVP could be as bad a deal for Barca as the infamous Eto'o + cash for Ibra deal. I am glad that Rosell has affirmed that Villa is not for sale.
One cannot blaim Alba for wanting to go the Olympics. It is a once only opportunity for him. He just has his pre-season in England.

I suppot your view on Villa totally. The Van Persie they are after now recovered from injury just before the end of the season before the just concluded one. D. Villa has been tremendous since his arrival at camp nou and this is his 1st injury since arrival. He needs to be given a chance rather than shipeed off as a swap for another aged player (in form or not). I bet you if the FCB management does this, it will be a repeat of the Eto'O/Ibrahamovic issue.....and we will end in regret. An in-form Villa is far better than 100 Van Persie plus Villa has always been in La Liga.

Can Riyad Mahrez improve Barcelona's attack?

Riyad Mahrez has been linked to Barcelona for a couple of seasons now. His superb performances for Leicester City, which helped The Foxes conquer the Premier League only last season, made him an attractive addition for major European clubs in need of talent.

Mahrez extended his contract for a further four years with Leicester only last summer, shortly after finishing 7th in the run-up for the Ballon d'Or. While The Foxes have been far less consistent this season, the 26-year-old Algerian international was contributed with four goals and two assists in their Champions League campaign.

Undoubtedly, Mahrez would be a great signing for any club. However, would Barcelona be the best fit for his future? Can he bring what the Catalan giants are currently lacking? Listen to Episode 9 of 'The Barcelona Podcast' to find out:

Why Barcelona should sign Yerry Mina in 2018

Yerry Mina has been heavily linked with Barcelona in recent times. The 22-year-old centre-back, who has excelled for both Palmeiras and Colombia in recent times, is rumoured to be joining Barca in the summer -- the summer of 2018, that is.

Given the huge role Mina is bound to play for Colombia in the biggest international tournament in football, the Barca board believe it is best for the young defender to stay in his current club until then. As per sport.netbet.co.uk, Los Cafeteros are currently 28/1 favourites to win the World Cup in 2018 and their limited chances of success would only increase if Mina's form and confidence is exceptional when it truly matters.

Barcelona reportedly agreed an option to bring Mina from Palmeiras to the Camp Nou for a €9 million back in October 2016. However, the Barca board believe that the 195cm Colombian should remain in his current club until the end of the 2018 World Cup, to be played in Russian next summer.

Lucas Lima is not the midfielder Barcelona need despite Neymar recommendation

Lucas Lima is close to finalising his transfer to Barcelona in January 2018, according to reports in the Brazilian media. The 26 year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Santos and the Brazilian national team, is rumoured to be joining Barca on a free transfer once his current deal expires on 31st December 2017.

Lima has reportedly received offers from Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich in recent times. However, the gifted Santos playmaker is set to sign a four-year deal with Barcelona as soon as July 1st, exactly six months before his contract with Santos expires.

While I don't doubt that the Brazilian international is a quality player, it seems obvious that the fact that his agent is in fact Neymar's dad has helped his potential move to Barcelona. Having dated Neymar's sister and his close friendship with Barca's No.11 would not have done much harm to his chances of securing a move either.

If rumours were to become a reality and Lima joined the Catalan giants du…
