Barcelona must go all out to sign Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba, without a doubt, will be the world’s greatest central midfielder within five years time. The 21 year-old Frenchman is the perfect model of a modern day central midfielder. His passing, aerial abilities, dribbling, defending and shooting are all world class (enjoy these amazing skills for yourself right here). The Juventus man is wanted by virtually every European super club and would be a perfect fit for Barcelona.

Here is my argument for the Blaugrana giants signing Paul Pogba:

One of the keys to a football club staying competitive for a long period of time is constant change. If a club is unwilling to change their style of play, they will be outwitted and defeated, as was evident with the tiki-taka of Barcelona and the Spanish national team in recent years. While Barcelona’s attack is probably the best in the world, the midfield which was the key part of the team during Pep Guardiola’s golden years is growing old.

While Ivan Rakitic is a great option for the future, Andres Iniesta’s and Xavi’s production levels are both rapidly declining. The former has racked up only three goals and three assists in 21 matches, receiving an average rating of 7.11 from WhoScored.com . The latter has scored only once and assisted five times in 24 matches, accumulating an average rating of 7.06. Sergio Busquets is the only midfielder from the Guardiola era that still remains in great form, averaging a 7.20 rating per game.

Rakitic needs a midfield partner whom he can gel with for years to come, Pogba is the perfect choice. The Frenchman has scored nine goals while assisting five more in 30 appearances for the Bianconeri. He averages an astounding 7.68 average rating and completes an impressive 83.7% of his passes. His defensive statistics are very impressive, averaging 2.3 tackles per game, while being dribbled past only 0.8 times per game. Another mind-boggling dribbling statistic is Pogba’s 2.8 dribbles past an opponent per game.

Barcelona can’t sign any players until January 2016, but Pogba appears to be staying in Turin for the time being, with his agent declaring just that. In order to purchase Pogba, the Blaugrana would likely have to break the world record transfer fee, but it would be well worth it.

As supported by everything above, Paul Pogba would be the perfect signing for FC Barcelona.
