Lionel Messi, top of the race for the Golden Boot

Barcelona star Lionel Messi climbed to the very top of the race of the European Golden Boot with his remarkable hat-trick against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. The Argentinean wizard continues to impress on a weekly basis, eager to take the responsibility to take his team forward and making his teammates better as a result. Considering Messi was a whole 12 goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo only 11 matches ago, there is no denying that the Barca forward is on an impressive goalscoring run to be proud of.

Barca treble talk not helpful

Barcelona fans are so euphoric at this moment in time that talking about the treble has become the norm rather than the exception. While it is clear supporters have every right to be happy about the way in which the team have been performing and, ultimately, achieving great results of late, that doesn't make Barca automatically better than rivals such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Chelsea. As Luis Enrique continues to explain whenever he has a chance, the most important match is always the next. Let's not count our eggs before they are hatched, Cules!

Lionel Messi's future in question

Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida has admitted that, almost it is hugely unlikely, the departure of Lionel Messi in the future is a possibility that can not be ruled out. Personally, I simply can't understand how talking about the unlikely departure of Barca's best ever player can be helping the team at this point. If the newly arrived Braida was truly serious about his job, then he would certainly stop discussing matters which could ultimately affect the team's current streak of positive results. Let's not touch what works!

Barcelona fans know that every new story about the Camp Nou giants is splashed all over the world's media in a matter of seconds. I have taken the time to hand-pick today's hottest Barca news below so you don't have to search through endless websites to get your Barca fix -- really hope you find it useful. Looking forward to hearing your views in the comments section!

  2. Sure, we can definitely get the treble but surely talking about it constantly won't help anybody. The next match must remain the focus.

Barcelona foolish to reject €50M offer for Arda Turan

Arda Turan has been thoroughly disappointing during his time at Barcelona. Signed from Atletico Madrid for a remarkable €34+7million in the summer of 2015, the Turkish international was heavily tipped to become a regular starter who could take the Catalans' attack into the next level. Regrettably, the Camp Nou giants are left with no option but to sell the 30-year-old to the highest bidder only a couple of seasons later as he has certainly not lived up to expectations.

Barcelona are currently second favourites, as per sport.netbet.co.uk/livebetting, to become La Liga champions next season. There's no two ways about it: it is obvious that Barca needs to reinforce their squad in order to regain the domestic league crown in 2017/18. Given the huge price tags being discussed during the current transfer window, the Catalans are pretty much forced to invest heavily if they are to attract world-class talents such as Marco Verratti or Hector Bellerin in the near future.
