Javier Mascherano expects non-regulars to help Barcelona through injury crisis | Video

Javier Mascherano has been a well-respected member of the Barcelona squad since he joined the club from Liverpool back in the summer of 2010. His admirable attitude both on and off the pitch have helped him become one of the team's captains, someone who is widely admired and is never afraid to speak his mind up.

Mascherano explained after Barcelona's 2-1 victory over Leverkusen: “Our momentum, the team spirit and never-say-die attitude was crucial in a game we had to win. We have important players injured, but that's football and we have a squad to succeed."

"Now is the time for those in the background to step up, it is an opportunity for those who do not often get minutes. Those of us who are fit and healthy have to keep going, and win while the others recuperate.”

“Sergi Roberto? He has had a good pre-season and the manager is using him in different positions. We never doubted his ability."
