Gelson Martins linked to Barcelona

Sporting Clube de Portugal starlet Gelson Martins is reportedly continuing to attract interest, with Barcelona now also being linked with making a move for him.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form so far this season, recording two goals and six assists in nine appearances so far, and particularly impressed in an appearance against Real Madrid in the Champions League last month.

Record noted a fortnight or so ago that United had been alerted by that display against Real, and in turn had begun to monitor him with a view of making a move next year.

Aleix Vidal could be involved in a swap deal… with Valencia’s Joao Cancelo

Aleix Vidal’s future is further away from Barcelona all the time. It is almost certain he will leave the club next summer, but he could yet leave in January. Luis Enrique has given up on the Catalan after his poor showing against Alaves. The Asturian coach hasn’t called him up since and is aware he can’t go the whole season with just one right-back, Sergi Roberto.

Barça are looking for an alternative. On Sunday Robert Fernandez was at the Mestalla to watch Valencia and Atletico Madrid. His eyes were fixed on Joao Cancelo.

Barcelona’s worst start in over a decade is not a cause for concern

Barcelona players and staff were queuing up to take the blame after Sunday’s 4-3 loss at Celta Vigo.

“I’m sorry, if I hadn’t made the mistake, we could have won this game,” goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen conceded after letting in four goals.

“I’m responsible for the rotations, and I’m the one who has to take the responsibility,” said Luis Enrique in an attempt to remove blame from his players. It seems, though, that they would happily have taken it.”

‘I want to end my career at Barcelona’ says Turkish international

The Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan has stated that he wants to end his playing career at Barcelona, according to the Turkish outlet Radyospor. The 30-year-old also stated that he is more than willing to play a supporting role for the La Liga giants.

“Barcelona are the best team in the world,” Arda Turan stated in an interview with the Turkish radio station Radyospor. “I feel I belong to this jersey. If I’m needed for just one minute, I’ll play for just one minute. If I’m needed to stay on the bench then I’m going to stay on the bench.”

Sergio Busquets’ Barcelona struggles highlights need for backup option

For the first time in his Barcelona career, Sergio Busquets is under scrutiny.

The midfield anchor has been the glue that has held the side together ever since Pep Guardiola, who had nurtured him in the club’s B-team the year before, promoted him to the first team in September 2008, and the gangly youngster quickly usurped Yaya Toure as the first choice holding midfielder.

But cracks in his blemish-free image have emerged after making three clear and costly errors in the last two games.
