Neymar must stay to secure Barcelona long-term success

Neymar has been excellent for Barcelona since he joined the Catalan giants back in the summer of 2013. Despite the many question marks over whether he would accept to share the spotlight with Lionel Messi, his professionalism off the pitch and even the legality of his transfer, the Brazilian youngster has made a remarkable impact and deservedly become a Camp Nou favourite.

As our partners as Sbobet Mobile know, Barcelona are not currently leading the La Liga table but nobody in their right mind would rule them out of retaining the title. If the Blaugranas are to leapfrog Real Madrid before the end of the season and win the league for the third consecutive season, Neymar has a huge role to play in the nine games remaining.

Fortunately for Cules, Neymar is currently playing the best football of his whole career. Fully established at both club and international level, the No.11’s confidence and excellent form makes him a constant danger that rivals constantly struggle to contain — especially given the fact the also have to liaise with five-times-Ballon’d’Or-winner Messi and the ultra-committed Luis Suarez.

Speaking to the Catalan media, Neymar explained: “I think this is the best moment of my career and I hope to keep helping my teammates. In these four years, especially towards the beginning, Messi helped me a lot. This guy with so many Ballon d’Or’s, he came and told me ‘Calm down and play your game, things will go fine’. Our relationship is wonderful, we help each other and we are friends, just as we are with Luis Suarez.”

There’s no two ways about it: Given his quality and humble attitude, Neymar is not only the present but also the future of Barcelona. Although Messi is deservedly still leading the way at the Camp Nou, his decline as years go by is inevitable. Once the No.10 becomes less influential due to the limitations that will come with age, it will be Neymar’s turn to take the baton and take centre-stage in his own right.

Major clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea are, understandably, hugely interested in luring Neymar away from Catalunya and have already attempted to contact the No.11’s entourage to test the waters. The Brazilian’s ability to run past defenders, dribble when being surrounded by rivals and always find a way to take a shot on goal under pressure are highly-sought-after skills that any manager in the world would like to add to their squads.

Fortunately for Cules, Neymar is fully aware that his cycle at the Camp Nou is far from over and is therefore committed to not only honour his current contract, but also willing to extend the deal further into the future. Many Brazilians such as Ronaldinho, Rivaldo or Romario rewrote the Blaugrana history books and it is only fitting for their young compatriot to continue to build on their legacy.

Looking forward to more and better in the future, Neymar!
