Why the Barcelona board should be concerned about the #BartomeuOut Twitter campaign

Josep Maria Bartomeu is under huge scrutiny in recent times, and deservedly so. The humiliating 5-1 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercopa was a terrible blow for Barca’s morale but to think the club’s problems are all a direct result of a poor result during preseason is far too simplistic.

Bartomeu, together with his predecessor and close friend Sandro Rosell, has brought Barcelona into a disheartening situation which not even the most pessimistic fans could have possibly predicted five years ago. Years of neglecting La Masia, countless signings that have struggled to make the starting lineup and the inability to connect with club members are only some of the reasons why the social media campaigns #BartomeuOut and #BartomeuDimiteYa have become a worldwide trend that show how concerning the current situation is.
