Why unbeaten Barcelona can’t relax to regain La Liga crown

Barcelona and Valencia could both challenge for La Liga this season. The two leading teams in the Spanish league remain unbeaten with Barcelona at 9-0-1 and Valencia holding a record of 7-0-3. This puts Los Che only four points off Valverde’s team and, judging by their impressive performances of late, there is reason to believe their race for title could go down to the wire.

Barcelona haven’t been convincing in victory, but they are still eight points above Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, a comfortable margin they could have only dreamed to have at this point before the league campaign started. Barcelona have not lost five or more games in a single season since 2008/09, so recent history would elucidate that the Blaugrana are already the heavy favorites given their current advantage.

Sure, it is clearly far too early in the season to be certain about who will walk away with the La Liga title once the curtain has fallen. However, Barcelona supporters have got more than enough reason to celebrate despite their results being far better than the style of play displayed so far.

The concerning form of key players such as Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique mean that nothing can be taken for granted. As Cules have experienced more than once in the past, the target of adding three more points in the very next match must remain their main goal – No need to worry about long-term success just yet. Francesc and Dan talked about the need to improve an unbeaten squad in the latest episode of ‘The Barcelona Podcast’.
