David Alaba Hints at a move for New Challenge

Austrian midfielder and Bayern Munich star David Alaba has openly revealed that he could still see himself playing for another club or as he put it “taking a different path”, with interests emerging form La Liga giants Barcelona. For this special we had a quick chat with Mattias Paredes, FC Barcelona insider of FootballPredictions.com, to discuss this more in dept.

The Austrian can also be deployed in the heart of defence and also as a defensive midfielder. The 25-year-old defender was formerly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga giants in the past transfer windows, having developed from a young age and quickly rose to be one of the best Europe’s finest left-backs.

Early last year, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona are highly interested in the Austrian and has deemed him to be the “next Eric Abidal”, who seem confident that he could adapt to the defense of the Catalans.

Another report covered that the Catalans will be willing to re-kindle their interest in the 25-year-old defender in the coming summer as they also have top targets like Antoine Greizmann from Atletico Madrid and Arthur Melo from Gremio and tagged them as their top priorities in the Summer.

“I am aware that this decision will come to me. I still feel very comfortable here, but I can also imagine taking a different path, taking the next step or looking for a new challenge.”

“But I leave that decision open. I have goals for this season that I want to achieve, so there’s no room for that right now,” Alaba said during an interview with Austrian outlet Kurier.

According to the report, Barcelona have been kept on high alert regarding the defender, as they will look to table a bid offer to the Bavarians during the summer. Barcelona will take on Athletic Bilbao in Camp Nou Stadium. Several Primera Divison predictions show a home victory for the table leader.
